About us

The Feeding Trust is a local charity supporting children with severe feeding difficulties. At our feeding clinic in South Birmingham, we provide the opportunity to access specialist therapy for children and young people with feeding difficulties, that provides them with the skills and confidence to enjoy a life-long, healthy relationship with food.

It is our mission to empower families to be advocates for their children, through education and training. We want to raise awareness of feeding difficulties and the significant impact it has on the child (their growth, nutritional status and development) and their family (high levels of stress and anxiety), through the publication of research and real-life stories.

Children like Lucas, who was born with Diabetes Insipidus and difficulties with feeding from birth. He needed to be fed via a tube and experienced huge difficulties learning to eat. From the age of three, Lucas and his family worked with The Feeding Trust to build Lucas’ confidence and skills with food and he was tube weaned when he was four years old.

Or four year old Isaac, who has Autism, came to The Feeding Trust during the Covid-19 pandemic eating only Walkers French Fries crisps, he presented with a dangerously restricted diet and severe eating restrictions. Over the course of two years, the team worked with Isaac, his family and his school to enable him to eat a more varied diet. Isaac now eats 40 foods from across all food groups and is comfortable eating in a wide range of contexts, including the local pub and fish and chip shop.

The Feeding Trust do not receive any government funding and need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
